David Lewin

It is with sadness, and some very fond memories, that I share the news that David Lewin passed away last week.  Some people will remember David and Jenny who were members of the club for many years into the early 2000s. They competed in RTV events in their Series I truck cab called ‘Flo’.  David won the RTV league on many occasions (I think perhaps 6 times).  Although David later moved to a 90 for competitions, I remember them in Flo at the same events as Stephen Greenwood was challenging for wins his Series I. Those battles were close fought.

Many of you will remember David with fondness and smiles, in particular when Jenny tired of not seeing club friends during the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001 and they hosted a fabulous party at their home which included a quiz set by David which gave many of our club members the opportunity to show off their knowledge of Land Rover Parts and their numbers, much to the amusement of those of us who were watching on.

David and Jenny were married for 56 years, and had two children, Ben and Suzanne and our thoughts are with them.

David’s funeral will take place on 12th October at 12.45pm. I can share details for those who may wish to attend either in person, or via the online link.

Katy Morris

Some of our members will remember Katy Morris and Paul Fillery, who trialled with Southern a number of years ago.

News has reached us that Katy has recently passed away, having been ill for some while.

Our thoughts are with Paul as he navigates this difficult time.

Bill Gingell

It is with sadness that we report the recent death of Bill Gingell.

One of the things that made trialling at Earlye Farm such a joy was meeting Bill and his family who always took such an active interest in our events.

Bill’s funeral will take place on August 4th at 1.30pm at Frant Church.
