SROC EMAIL ADDRESSES - Setup & Use
This page contains information on how to set up and the different ways you can use your SROC email address.
Dedicated addresses have been setup for all Committee Members and some other regular users.
SETUP
The setup of your account requires the settings shown. The different mail systems used on desktops, phones, tablets, etc. all vary in how to set them up, but the credentials and setting shown should guide you.
The webmaster account has been used in this example, but please replace with your own username.
- Email Settings
Username: webmaster@sroc.co.uk
Password: Use the email account’s password.
Incoming Server: mail.sroc.co.uk
IMAP Port: 993
Outgoing Server: mail.sroc.co.uk
SMTP Port: 465
- Authentication is required for IMAP and SMTP.
USAGE
There are several ways you can use your SROC eMail address.
Forwarding Only
All mail sent to your @sroc.co.uk account will be forwarded to your personal email address. This will be the one which was listed on the contact pages of the old SROC site. (If you wish this to be changed then please contact the Webmaster for assistance.
The Webmaster has already set this up for all accounts previously in use, but these can be removed upon request if you intend to use the Dedicated Mailbox option.
This means there is nothing for you to set up and everything will work the way it did previously.
The disadvantage is that you cannot send mail from your @sroc.co.uk address so your replies will not look as official.
WebMail
To use WebMail simply visit SROC.CO.UK/WEBMAIL and once you have entered your credentials, (username and password), you will have access to inbox, sent mail, spam/junk etc., just like using a dedicated mailbox.
The advantage is that you have full mailbox facilities without having to set up an account in your personal mail program on your computer or device.
Dedicated Mailbox
The setup for this is straightforward and gives you the best possible usage scenario. All mail is sent to this dedicated mailbox, which you can keep separate from your personal email account or other business accounts. You can reply from this mailbox using your official SROC mail and title. You can set up a signature and all other features associated with a regular email account.
To use it this way (Recommended), please setup your mailbox on your computer/phone/device by following the SETUP instructions above.
Alternative Operation
You can of course, use all three of the above methods in combination. Receiving all mail to your personal address, and then logging in to either webmail or your dedicated mailbox to send replies.
