We are back to holding events with a successful August Bank Holiday weekend at Copford Farm. A big thanks to the Gingell family for hosting our first event back whilst we are trying to move forward responsibly and safely in these difficult times. There was a huge amount of work done to get the event running, and I have to say a massive thanks to all on the Committee as well as all those who stepped up to officiate over the weekend. More of the same to hopefully follow.
It’s a shame that we can’t have spectators / family members attending but the events are being run under the rules laid down by the Department of Culture, Media & Sport who are advised by Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). It’s not us, or Motorsport UK, or the ALRC, it’s the ultimately the government’s top scientific advisors saying no to spectators as part of their strategy to combat this pandemic. Other sports are trying it, but under very controlled conditions. As things develop, hopefully this will change.
A couple of things the committee have decided; one is that to remove any pressure for people to attend events the leagues will be suspended for this year. Also, as the membership fee has not been value for money this year we have decided to give members from this year free membership for next, but you have to have renewed by the end of Feb 2021. Anyone renewing after that time will have to pay as normal. The “free” renewal form will be available soon.
